The Scene
The last thing the disciples see is him going up, and then the cloud takes him — the same cloud that filled the tabernacle and covered Sinai, the visible weight of the presence of God.
They are still staring upward when two men in white clothing ask them why. He will come back the same way he left. Until then the watch is theirs, and the book of Acts is what they did with it.
