“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
Revelation 21:2 · King James Version, quoted verbatim
The Scene
John has just watched the first heaven and the first earth go, and the sea with them. Then the city arrives — and the direction matters more than the architecture. It is not raised by anyone's hands. It descends, already finished, out of heaven from God.
He does not describe it as a fortress or a capital. He describes it as a bride, dressed for her husband. After all the seals and trumpets and bowls, the last image in the book is a wedding, held in a city that came down.
